When I was in Florida, I got a lot of reading done. I finished The Last Song as well as The Wedding. Both of these books are by Nicholas Sparks. I also want to read The Notebook and Dear John because there's a movie coming out which looks amazing. Right now I am reading a book called Handle with Care by Jodi Picoult. The book is very interesting. One thing that Picoult does well as an author is really research her topic. This one is about a girl who has OI, Ostesomething Imperfecta meaning her bones are so brittle that they will break very easily. The book follows the stories of each character. The girl who's sick, Willow, has a sister named Amelia and her life is very difficult because while all the attention is given to Willow she's left to try and raise herself and be her own mom. I started reading it on the plane and I didn't get very far but I think that they are starting some sort of a lawsuit which could potentially become very interesting.

Jeez, I can never read that fast, as far as I can imagine. I might get like half a book finished.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, I agree with your comment on Jodi Picoult. I think she does a good job at the different realistic issues she describes in each of her books. Though, that book sounds similar to my sister's keeper, in the way that all the attention goes to one sister. Regardless, she still shows difference in her books. But, maybe she should try to mix it up a bit.
Keep up the fast reading, because I sure can't

I've read a few Jodi Picoult books and I've heard of this one before, but I've never read a Nicholas Sparks book. My mom, for some reason, likes to listen to audiotapes in the car, so for about three weeks straight, all I was listening to in the car was Dear John. I missed a few parts since my mom drives without me, of course, but it was a really good book and I want to see the movie as well.
ReplyDeleteYeah, it seems that so much research is put into all of Jodi Picoult's books which takes a lot of time and effort that some authors aren't willing to take. I like how you mentioned this and what point of view it is in because it gives a sneak preview of sorts to what you are going to read. Good job!
